Independent Fabrication, Inc. is a corporation formed and owned by its employees. The beginnings of the company are described in the IF History. The founders were primarily experienced bicycle frame builders. We shared a vision of a company whose ownership was shared by the employees and whose culture provided for participation of all in the significant decisions effecting our work lives.

Participation in the operation of IF takes many forms. Each person is encouraged to devise methods by which to improve their functional areas. Weekly meetings afford each employee the opportunity to learn of major issues impacting the company and to offer their point of view on their resolution. Committees are formed to address key issues such as design review, compensation review or the future course of employee ownership. Each employee who has been employed at IF for a year or more is afforded the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors.
