Special Ops
Tyler is IF's chief structural and aesthetic
technician. He graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with honors
and awards in 1997 with a degree in sculpture. While still in school
he was trained in the craft of titanium frame building at Merlin
Metalworks when it was in Cambridge, MA. After graduating he was
hooked and decided to make frame building his career. After many years
at Merlin and thousands frames, he decided it was time to go. He left
the big factory, the big money, and the oppressive corporate
atmosphere to work at IF. He was lured to IF by the possibility of
actually having his talents and skills utilized. And they have been,
first as head of welding, then as head of R&D and now onto
marketing. Just like everyone here at IF he wears a lot of hats, he
still welds his fair share of frames and forks, researches new
materials and technologies, updates and adds to our product line up,
and does all of the catalogs and advertisements. Accomplishments
include: the sterling silver headbadge, the disc brake dropouts, the
rigid disc brake fork, the shotpeened finish on our titanium frames,
the XS titanium lugset, and the 2005 through 2008 IF Catalogs.
