Women's Cycling Team

The Independent Fabrication / Kempner women's road racing team was originally founded by Independent Fabrication President Matt Bracken in 1996 while he was VP of sales and marketing at Merlin, and continued when Bracken made the move to IF in 1999.

"I started the women's team so that more outstanding female athletes would have a team and company that supported them well in a male-dominated industry and sport," he said. And support them well IF has, with racers aboard the latest custom creations of this unique and visionary employee-owned company. The team's fans will notice a stunning new XS and several gleaming SSR 953 stainless steel frames at the races.

The title sponsor is Independent Fabrication (IF), a custom bicycle frame design and production company in Somerville, Mass. Thomas L. Kempner, Jr. of Davidson Kempner Capital Management, LLC, is the executive managing member of a New York-based investment firm, an avid cyclist and the proud owner of an IF.

This Category 1/2 women's road team competes in a full calendar of local, regional and national events while its members maintain full-time careers.
