When our dealers and riders saw the outstanding quality of our
ti road bike which we introduced in the Fall of 2000, they started
demanding a ti version of our race proven steel Deluxe. We made
3 prototypes of the ti mountain bike and gave them to Johs Huseby,
Cristina Begey and Ken Helgeson to race in December of 2000. Riding
the Ti Deluxe prototype, Cristina went on to become the winner and
National Champion for the inaugural 24 hour solo race held on August
7, 2001, in Winter Park, Colorado - a nice chapter in the story
of the development of the Ti Deluxe.
The Ti Deluxe made history upon its introduction at Interbike
by being the first titanium mountain frame to be shot peened. Shot
peening provides a uniquely lustrous finish, stress relieves the
frame and dramatically increases the fatigue life in the heat affected
zones.
