Screen Calibrator

Colors on a computer screen will never look exactly the same as those on a real bike frame. However, if your computer and monitor are properly set up, you can come pretty close. Follow these steps to set up your monitor and computer:

  1. Color Depth
The image below should look like a rainbow starting with magenta and ending with red. There should be a smooth transition from color to color. If you see banding or tiny dots, you are not displaying enough colours. Change your system settings to millions of colours (24 bit, recommended) or thousands of colours (16 bit). In windows select "Display" from the control panel, then click the "Settings" tab. On Macintosh, use the "Monitors" control panel.

  2. Brightness and Contrast
Find the brightness and contrast controls on your computer's monitor. Contrast is usually labelled with a circle filled with half black and half white, brightness is usually a little sun icon. Set the contrast to the highest possible setting, so the screen looks as light as possible. Then adjust the brightness until you can see the difference between the two halves of the image below. Set the brightness so that the halves are as close togther as possible but still noticeably different.

Please note that while the above settings will make the paint colors on this website as accurate as possible, they may not be appropriate for all websites or other programs. This website is designed to look best on windows computers. If you are a Mac user and you adjust your monitor according to the instructions above, you may want to change it back to it's brightness and contrast settings when you're done.
